Storyteller. Dreamer. Lover of mint chip ice cream.

For as long as I can remember, I've been a storyteller. Maybe it's because I'm lousy with equations. Or maybe it's because I have always loved exploring the complexity of the human condition, while reflecting on the empathy and compassion needed to create substantial change.

Either way, I am eager to continue to learn and grow, wherever I may be.

A little about me:

I’m an experienced writer, editor, and multimedia producer currently based in the Northwest Territories.

I graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a Combined Honours in Journalism and Human Rights in 2020. The four years I spent there were amongst the most challenging and rewarding of my life; I even travelled to the Yukon for five weeks in 2019 to get a boots-on-the-ground education about what it means to be a responsible and respectful reporter on Indigenous land.

Not long after graduating, I officially moved North to begin my career as a journalist and took a job as a digital reporter at Cabin Radio, a small but mighty newsroom that covers happenings across the NWT. Here, I learned the ins-and-outs of content creation in the digital world, producing work in a variety of mediums including web, audio, and video (alongside giving up any pretence of dignity by allowing colleagues to capture my failed attempts at slo-pitch on camera).

Then, I transitioned into the role of associate editor at Up Here Magazine. I wrote long-form narrative pieces for print, edited and proofread freelancers’ work, liaised with freelance photographers and sourced images, ran social media accounts, produced a weekly email newsletter for a dedicated readership—you get the idea. In this time, I gained valuable lessons about professional leadership, as well as working collaboratively within a tight-knit team to produce a final product.

Now, I’m working as a multimedia reporter at the CBC North station in Yellowknife. I spend most of my time with the current affairs team, pitching and chasing stories, booking guests, and working to produce a variety content for the daily radio shows. Truly, it’s a privilege that I get to share stories of the resourceful, resilient, and kind people and communities that make the North such a special place.

In my downtime, you can probably catch me reading in the Midnight Sun, strumming away on my second-hand guitar, or going for a quick dip in the chilly waters of Great Slave Lake.

Oh, and I love mint chip ice cream.
